Writers need to be on top of things, so that they never miss a deadline and their writing is well researched and written. Here is a list of 24 apps that can aid writers with their writing:
Keep Track of Research Material
Evernote
There are tons of blog posts on how Evernote can aid you in everything, from business to personal. I love that it syncs to all my systems, regardless if it’s Mac or PC. Also, that I can view the material via my Android. I use it for keeping track of my research material, outlines, and taking notes to use for future documentation and blog posts.
Delicious
When I heard that Yahoo! was going to get rid of Delicious, a social boomarking site, I panicked. I have tons of sites that I have bookmarked that I can use for my writing. Luckily, the original founders of YouTube bought it, so it’s here for awhile.
Dropbox
Like Evernote, Dropbox syncs to all of my systems, including my smartphone. I can store larger documents there, and I can share them with different people.
Create a To-Do List
I’m all about to-do list. There are different to-do apps, so you have to choose the right one for you. I am currently loving TheDeadline, but Producteev is a close second. However, Remember the Milk is also a great alternative. Google Tasks is slowly getting there. The only thing you want to ensure is that it syncs with your different systems, and if you use Google Calendar, it does as well.

Design a Mean Email Newsletter
An email newsletter is a great way for freelance writers to show their subscribers what they have to offer. I use MailChimp. I love that it also has an Autoresponder service. However, there are others who prefer Emma or Constant Contact. Whichever one you use, just ensure that you have a user-friendly design and that you stick to a schedule.

Must-Have WordPress Plugins
Front-End Editor
This is a great plugin that you can use to edit blog posts without having to go to the dashboard. You just double-click the post, and it will open up an edit window. It’s great for typos that you need to fix right away.
After The Deadline
I can’t live without this plugin. When you hit “Publish,” it will ask you if you want to check for spelling and grammatical errors. I always say yes, and it underlines the items that you might want to rethink. Definitely a plugin that will help save you some headaches.
FD Word Statistics
Readability statistics is something that is very important to your writing. If you are writing past a 7th-grade level to a basic public audience, then that means your writing is filled with technical jargon. This plugin checks the readability statistics for your blog posts.
Mind Mapping Your Outline
I wrote this blog post awhile ago on how mind mapping can aid your writing. Here are some online mind mapping tools you can use.
Mind42
FreeMind
MindMeister
Publish Your Docs and Share Them
I love both Scribd and Slidshare, so I can’t say one is better than the other. The only thing is that Slideshare can be added to your LinkedIn. However, they both do the job of showing off your best work and giving you the ablity to share it on the different social networking sites.

Slideshare
Google Docs
Have an Online Business Card
An online business card is a great way to share with potential clients your information, including the social networking sites that you’re on. The great thing about an online business card service is that it can be used as a lifestream because it shows your latest updates.
