NaNoWriMo Begins. It is 30 days of writing, and the prize is 50,000 words.
This is my second year participating in NaNoWriMo. The first time that I did it, I reached over 30,000 words. Believe me, it is not an easy task. It is actually worse when get paid to write. When you are constantly writing, then finding time to write an extra 1625 words can be a daunting task. It is even worse for a technical writer because you are used to writing in an economical way, so you have to re-teach yourself how to describe objects, people, and scenes in a way that makes readers feel as though they are there with you. Also, you have to write dialogue, which is something that is non-existent in technical writing.
However, I know that I can do it if I manage my time. It also helps that I will be going to Mexico for a week because I will be able to write without thinking about technical documentation and proposals. Come on, what is better than being on a beautiful resort with nothing to do but enjoy the kids have fun in the pool, eat, drink, and write.
For 30 days, I will be writing my NaNoWriMo updates, so enjoy the ride.
