Everyone is aware that no two people are the same. However, this seems to be disregarded when it comes to interacting with one another on the Internet. If a person has a different opinion than another person, a debate will ensue. This debate will quickly turn into a vicious attack by one of the two people, or a third party who decides to join in the argument. Believe me, I’ve been witness to many of these online fights. The smartest thing to do is keep quiet, or you will be sucked in.
Every time I am about to post something, I always have in the back of my mind that there might be someone who will not like my post. In a perfect world, everyone will agree with everything I blog. However, we don’t live in one, so I know that there is going to a person or two (maybe even more!) who are going to have issues with what I post. They will not stay quiet about disagreeing with you. You will get comments questioning what you wrote or even you as a person. Sometimes these comments can get downright mean.
I remember one blog I listed my favorite anime series. Even though I had a disclaimer indicating that I know that everyone will have their own version of this list, I still had people get upset about the animes that I selected. I got comments like
“You don’t know what you’re talking about!”
“Your anime list sucks!”
As a blogger, you have to learn to have a thick skin. People can sometimes be mean if they don’t agree with your blog post. All you can do is read their comments, grit your teeth, and just realize that everything will be ok. In five years, you will not remember the nasty comments that they left. There will be times where you question yourself, and if you should really be blogging about this or that. You can’t get discouraged because that is the worst mistake you can make. If you were to do that, you will regret it.
Keep blogging, and just be ready for anything.
