Sick, But Keep On Working

I woke up today extremely ill. I could barely get out of bed without coughing. I have a stuffy nose, sore throat, ears are ringing, and my body aches. This weekend, I felt the beginnings of it, and I hoped it would go away, but it didn’t. If I had a 9-5 job, I could call the office, and tell my boss.

“Hey Johnny, I’m not feeling well, so I’m going to stay in bed today.”

I would stay in bed, and still get paid due to the sick leave I had accrued. It’s one of the luxuries (probably one of the few ones) of working for a company. However, I don’t, so I can’t call in sick, stay in bed, and sleep my sickness away.

When you are a freelancer or an entrepreneur, every second counts, so you have to constantly be working. Therefore, you have to find ways to take care of yourself, so that you don’t run yourself into the ground.  Even though I don’t feel like doing a thing, I still have to be there for my clients, and stay on deadline.  Deadlines are very important to me.  I’ve never missed one, and I don’t plan on there ever being a first time. Therefore, I need to work.

One thing that I can do is stay in bed, plug in my laptop, have my phone next to me, and work while I rest in bed.
