One Thing That Makes You An Expert is Continuous Learning

Classroom sig One Thing That Makes You An Expert is Continuous Learning

There are always people discussing what makes someone an “expert” in something. Is it the number of years he/she has in the field or the people who can vouch for his/her work. Yes, this does contribute to being one. However, there is one thing that also makes someone a guru, it is his/ her ability to constantly learn more about his/her field of work.

Nothing bothers me more than seeing someone who is trying to teach others how to do something, and he/she doesn’t know much about it or the new techniques in that field. We all know that something never remains stagnant. It is constantly changing, so you have to be aware of those changes and learn those as well.

This is why I am always trying to find writing workshops to enroll in because I want to keep learning more about my craft. It also helps me see what others are doing and get critique on my own work. Another great thing about learning is that you can learn about areas that you don’t really do, but can help you in what you are doing. I don’t do much copywriting, but I have taken grad courses on it, and will take a workshop in 2010 because I think it would help with proposals I write and my web content.

Never stop learning. If you are trying to teach others about something, then you need to teach yourself first.
