On Wednesday, I ventured out to Adam’s Morgan for the monthly DC Blogger Meetup. This time I was a mentor for new bloggers.  I love teaching others everything that I have learned, so I was definitely excited.  It was a great meeting, and I plan on attending Google’s first DC Meetup, and I am hoping they give everyone a Google Wave account.  icon wink Meeting Other Bloggers Is Always Fun

Even if you are not the social type, you should still make an effort to attend an outing with people who are passionate about the same things as you.  It actually makes you even more passionate about what you are doing because their energy rubs off.   It’s been over ten years since I got into blogging, and I love it more each day.  I know that it’s something that I hope to continue doing and it helps to meet like-minded friends along the way.

Here are the people who were there that night:

  2. Kier Duros – http://Durosia.com
  3. A Glenn – http://jenesaisrein.blogspot.com
  4. Phil – http://www.feedbacksecrets.com
  5. Mike – http://NotionsCapital.com
  6. Nusrat – http://knightleyemma.wordpress.com
  7. AmyinDC – http://www.freeindc.blogspot.com
  8. DaveW – http://www.autumnrain2110.com
  9. Joelogon — www.joelogon.com/blog
  10. Frank — http://swordandthescript.blogspot.com/
  11. Jadxia — http://jadxia.livejournal.com

My next stop is to join a writing group.  I created one a long time ago, but after the first couple of times, no one started showing up, so I cancelled it.  Maybe it’s time to join an already formed one or create one.  Maybe this time I will have better success.

It doesn’t matter what you love, there are others who love it as well.  Join a group or create your own today.

I agree with you, the DC Blogger’s Meetup was a good time, and hanging out with other bloggers definitely fires you up and makes you want to go and write. All that having been said, I don’t remember seeing the three chaps in the photo at the Meetup. They might have been sitting behind me.

The people in the picture were right behind us. I snapped a pic of them when they were distracted by the DJ coming in ;)

I bet meeting other bloggers or people that share your interests is great fun. I unfortunately don’t have ONE friend who blogs or even has Facebook. All my FB or blogging friends I have met online or are people from my past. Currently I don’t think my friends even use a computer! Sad huh? I am thinking about getting more involved with people that hold my interest such as blogging. The thing is I don’t do it for profit or even to get followers (even though that is fun and great as well). I do it more than anything just for the fun of it. To be able to express myself, to myself, if that makes any sense. Don’t give up on your writing group. It can take up to 11 tries for something like that to take. If you love it, do it! In the meantime it’s a great idea you have to join an already established writing group.

In the blogger group that I am a part of, there are different people doing it for different reasons. The one thing we have in common is how passionate we are about blogging. Definitely try to find a group there. I will not give up on my writing group. I’ll probably create one next year.=D
