A BIA is very important when constructing a disaster recovery plan. I think it's prerequisite to a plan though because you have to conduct it before you can start writing one.

Lee, I have that listed as one of the sections: Mobile Recovery Site. I wanted to emphasize the typical sections that go into developing such a plan. However, there is actual planning and implementation that a company has to do as well. For an in-depth look, I recommend the article, "Are You Ready," written by Eric Beehler in the October 2008 issue of the Windows Administration in Real Time: http://nexus.realtimepublishers.com/RTWA.htm

Nice summary of an IT disaster recovery plan. But I suggest you look beyong IT and focus on a disaster recovery plan for your people. If your office or building is damaged, where are your people going to work to 1) maintain business operations and 2) implement the IT disaster recovery plan? Planning for an alternate location should be a priority along with planning for the technological infrastructure.
