A BIA is very important when constructing a disaster recovery plan. I think it's prerequisite to a plan though because you have to conduct it before you can start writing one.

However, there is actual planning and implementation that a company has to do as well. Nice summary of an IT disaster recovery plan. But I suggest you look beyong IT and focus on a disaster recovery plan for your people. If your office or building is damaged, where are your people going to work to 1) maintain business operations and 2) implement the IT disaster recovery plan? Planning for an alternate location should be a priority along with planning for the technological infrastructure.
